Have you seen the Tudor Heart at the British Museum yet?
On this rather grey day here in Britain, I thought I would ask a question of fellow history lovers.
Have you seen the Tudor Heart, the remarkable jewel discovered in Warwickshire and now part of the British Museum’s collection?
The moment I first learned of its discovery, I was fascinated. Not simply because of the jewel itself, but because of the extraordinary Tudor story that surrounds it. Objects such as this are rare links to real people who lived through a dramatic period in English history.
The Tudor Heart has inspired my next historical novel, The Queen’s Heart: Always. Whilst grounded in historical research, the novel explores the people, relationships, ambitions and tragedies connected to the jewel and the Tudor court.
I would be genuinely interested to hear from anyone who has seen the Tudor Heart on display. What was your impression of it? Did it live up to your expectations?
