A Norfolk Treasure That Has Stood for Nearly 900 Years
The magnificent ruins of Castle Acre Priory are among the most atmospheric historic sites in England.
Founded in the eleventh century, the priory flourished for centuries before the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII changed England forever. Today, its peaceful ruins are a powerful reminder of one of the most dramatic periods in our nation’s history.
Many of the events I write about in my Tudor novels took place during the years when monasteries like this disappeared from the English landscape.
History is never just about kings and queens. It is also about the places and communities whose lives were changed forever.
