Meet the Characters – The Reflection in the Mirror

Thomas Cromwell

Thomas Cromwell was born into a harsh and troubled household in Putney, London. His father, a blacksmith and part-time ale brewer, was frequently in trouble with the law, and from an early age, Thomas learned how unforgiving life could be. Still little more than a boy, he left home to seek his fortune elsewhere.

After years spent abroad, Cromwell returned to England, where he studied law and worked as a wool merchant before entering the service of Thomas Wolsey. From there, his rise was nothing short of astonishing. He climbed from the backstreets of Putney to the very heart of Henry VIII’s court.

A man of sharp intelligence and formidable determination, Cromwell never forgot where he had come from, nor how fragile power could be. Not until it was too late.

To celebrate the launch, the paperback edition is available at a special introductory price of £15.99 until 1 February, after which it will rise to £17.99. The Kindle edition is also now available via Amazon and can be purchased in Great Britain, the United States, France, New Zealand, Australia, India, and many other locations worldwide.

The hardback edition will be released in February 2026.
