Future Novel Attention: Norfolk!

As I approach the completion of my third historical novel, The Queen’s Heart: Always, which I hope to publish in late summer 2026, my thoughts are naturally turning to what comes next.

As many of you know, I live in Norfolk and have a deep interest in the history of our county. I am also a member of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust, which hopes to begin further work at Burnham Norton Friary near Burnham Market.

I cannot help but wonder about the people who once lived there. What were their hopes, fears and daily struggles? What events shaped their lives? Hidden amongst the ruins may be the beginnings of a fascinating historical novel waiting to be discovered.

My second option takes me back to a period that has fascinated me for many years. I already have some 48,000 words written on the Plantagenet period and the events that led to the disappearance and presumed deaths of the two York princes. It is a story filled with loyalty, ambition, betrayal and one of the greatest mysteries in English history.

With two reviews of my novels due to appear in Norfolk magazines next month, (Do look out for them)I have found myself reflecting on how fortunate I am to be surrounded by so much history here in our county.

So I thought I would ask you.

Which would you be more interested in reading?

A novel inspired by the lost world of Burnham Norton Friary and medieval Norfolk, or a return to the intrigue, mystery and politics of the Plantagenets and the Princes in the Tower?
