Today I am delighted to introduce the third of our six Tudor queens.
Jane Seymour is often remembered as the quiet queen, yet her influence upon Tudor history was profound.
Gentle, modest and deeply respected, Jane succeeded where Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn had not. In October 1537 she gave Henry VIII the son he had long desired, the future Edward VI.
For Jane, there could be only one preserve.
Summer Redcurrant Jelly.
Unlike the exotic flavours associated with Katherine of Aragon or the French influences surrounding Anne Boleyn, redcurrants speak of the English countryside, manor gardens and summer harvests.
They evoke the England Jane knew best.
As I researched Jane for my novels, I was struck by the calm dignity she brought to Henry’s court. Whilst others changed England through drama and conflict, Jane’s influence came through patience, kindness and reconciliation.
The Tudor Rose Collection launches in July 2026.
