A Tudor treasure saved for the nation
I was absolutely delighted to read that the British Museum has successfully acquired the extraordinary Tudor heart jewel associated with Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon.
Objects like this remind us that history is not only found in books and archives. Sometimes it quite literally emerges from the soil and reconnects us with the past in the most vivid way.
The symbolism of the jewel — the Tudor rose and the pomegranate of Katherine of Aragon — speaks of a moment when their marriage still represented hope for the Tudor dynasty.
Discoveries such as this are exactly what inspire historical writers.

If all goes to plan, I hope to bring this story to life in a book scheduled for 2027.
