Professor Tim Thornton’s discovery
A remarkable clue in the mystery of the Princes in the Tower…
Professor Tim Thornton discovered a reference in Lady Margaret Capell’s will to a chain that had belonged to the young Edward V.
Why is this significant? Lady Margaret was closely connected to Sir James Tyrell—the man named by Sir Thomas More as having organised the murder of Edward V and his brother Richard.
Professor Thornton’s earlier research also established that More knew the family of Miles Forest, one of the alleged killers. This raises the possibility that More’s account was based upon testimony from people much closer to events than previously believed.
It does not solve the mystery—but it gives us another compelling reason to examine the evidence scientifically.
